The ROBO 3D R1 is marketed as a workhorse 3D printer that can keep up with high demands at a budget. Is it one of the best 3d printers or does it fall short of what makes a pricier 3D printer so good? We’ll be taking an in-depth look in our review.

Features of the ROBO 3D R1
The ROBO 3D R1 is deep enough to create objects up to 720 cubic inches in size, or 8 x 9 x 10 inches. When printing, the printer can add layers of a resolution of 100 microns, which allows you to add a decent amount of detail to your printing, although it’s not going to produce pixel perfect results.
As you’d expect, some material has been used to keep the printer from warping the objects it is printing. The heated print bed on this 3D printer does an acceptable job at keeping your objects from printing unevenly and as it prints it will automatically calibrate the bed leveling to ensure precise, detailed results.
There unfortunately isn’t much safeguard for the printing mechanism, so owners will need to stay clear of the printer to avoid interrupting the printing process. The printer will also give off quite a lot of heat and this is something to consider, especially if you’re looking for a family friendly printer suitable for younger members of the family to use.
This open design does however allow you to create larger objects than most other printers, especially at this price point so you’ve got a lot of room to play with.

Pros and Cons
If you plan to print large objects or use the ROBO 3D R1 as a workhorse printer, for the most part you won’t be let down. Detail and print quality may not be as hyper defined as some high end printers, but this device does a great job at producing satisfying results.

What is the ROBO 3D R1 Good for?
Unfortunately this 3D printer is close to a grand in costs so it’s not going to be the best budget buy available. However, if you’re not willing to shell out thousands of dollars but want a reliable printer that can produce large objects or a consistent stream of detailed prints, this printer will do well. You’re also given quite a few tools to get started right out of the box too, including a 300G spool of sample filament.
