For the price, the LulzBot Mini isn’t as big as you may expect it to be, but despite being a mini 3D printer, there’s enough features inside and out to make it a worthy buy. One of the greatest traits of this printer is of course it’s portable size – it’s incredibly easy to store it in the home or the office.

We’ll be taking a look at this 3D printer in this review to find out whether it’s really worth forking out $1,350 for a mini printer.

Don’t let it’s size phase you – while there are areas, such as the printing volume, that are less than larger printers, for the most part the LulzBot Mini is filled with all sorts of unique features. This printer comes with self leveling and self cleaning capabilities, making it a very easy printer to use. The degree of maintenance on this printer is minimal, making it a great choice for first time 3D printer users.

This printer also comes with the LulzBot Hexagon hot end which allows it to reach fast heat-up and stable print temperatures and thanks to the active cooling on the heatsinks, the temperature is always just right.

Bundled with this printer is the Cura LulzBot edition software that can be used for creating mock ups, designs and 3D objects to print. For the most part, this is a pretty nifty piece of software that will help you to get the most out of the mini 3D printer.

This mini 3D printer can print objects of a size up to 6” x 6” x 6.2”, so whilst it is considerably smaller than some full sized printers, it’s not that much smaller. Below a summary of the features has been listed.

Pros and Cons

At $1,350, the LulzBot Mini is a little at the steep side of things. Whilst there are plenty of worthwhile printers at this price or even more, this printer is not a full size one – this means smaller print volume, and there are plenty of other mini 3D printers that go for a lot less.

With that being said however, this mini 3D printer has all the hallmarks of a great professional quality printer, albeit the small size. If you’re looking for any easy to use printer that’s not going to let you down, this could be a great option for you. It’s good for beginners, children and it takes up very little space whatsoever.

What is the LulzBot Mini Good for?

This printer is good at accomplishing all sorts of tasks – the self cleaning and self leveling capabilities make it easy to use for beginners, but it’s software allows for more creative or high quality prints.

For this reason this mini 3D printer by LulzBot covers all walks of life, from home and beginner use, to education, and can even be used for commercial prototyping and research.
